AIE and CIT are pleased to announce the Bachelor of Games and Virtual Worlds (Programming) being offered in partnership.
The BGames&VW(Prog) is a 3 year degree focused on producing graduates for the simulation, virtual worlds and games industries. IT students enrolling at our Canberra campus now have the option of enrolling in AIE's two year Advanced Diploma of Professional Game Development or the Degree in partnership with CIT.
“This is a really exciting development, not just for the AIE, but for games and simulation education in Australia” said AIE Canberra Head of School Lea Bartlett.
“The career destinations for our graduates are growing each year and this degree will open up even more pathways to work in simulation and virtual worlds”.
The degree program is designed to provide professional game programmers with the skills and knowledge of a computer science degree contextualised by gaming applications plus core skills in programming and design. Previous AIE Advanced Diploma graduates wishing to articulate into the BGames&VW(Prog) need to complete four bridging subjects (12 months part-time study) before starting the final year of the degree (one year full-time or 2 years part-time study).
Local industry veteran Tony Oakden had this to say about the degree, “I was very excited to hear that a computer games degree was being run by the AIE. The AIE is one of the premier training facilities for students who want to learn the skills required to get into the games industry and I believe that a degree course will be a great addition to their extensive range of courses.”
