Great turn out at the National Open Day

AIE held a National Open Day on Sunday 16th August at each campus in Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne.

Melbourne Campus - Adam Briggs, Big Ant Art Director giving a talk, and current students showing visitors around

The Melbourne campus was packed to the rafters by 11am for Adam Briggs' discussion about the local games industry.  Adam is the Art Director at Big Ant Studios and kindly spent his Sunday chatting with Open Day visitors.

Thanks also to Paul Motion, Senior Producer at Iron Monkey Studios, Cameron Lee, Development Director at EA and the graduates, representing Infinite Interactive and Tantalus Media, as well as the current students who joined the fray and added to the success of the day.

Canberra Campus - A talk on game design and development careers

The Canberra campus enjoyed strong crowds throughout the day. Groups enjoyed a talk from Micro Forté, art and programming discussions, a sausage sizzle and a guitar hero contest. Visitors also had the opportunity to have their pictures taken against the industry green screen and composited into 3d scenes.

The Sydney campus was pleased to have David Good, a former AIE student who has worked for Ambience Entertainment and Team Bondi come along to the open day to talk about his experiences as a 3D animator. Tony Nguyen who worked at Micro Forté Studios as a games programmer also passed on his valuable knowledge to eager people aspiring to one day get a career in games.
