AIE students win Best Animation at Sony Tropfest

AIE won Best Animation at Sony Tropfest 2008 on Sunday.  Course teacher and director of the film, “Fault”, Dan Miller, accepted the award in front of thousands of Tropfest fans at the Domain in Sydney.

“Fault” was a collaboration between AIE’s Advanced Diploma of Screen students and students from CIT’s Creative Industry Centre.  The movie told the fantastical tale of paradise lost and the sacrifices made to regain it.

The joint-project highlights the strengths of the AIE/CIT partnership, forged over many years and culminating in 2007 when both institutions were named ACT Training Organisation of the Year in the respective small and large categories.  AIE went on to win the national award.

AIE has been a Sony Tropfest finalist for the last two years running.  “What we’re offering students is a unique opportunity to gain a qualification,” said Dan Miller, “and to become an award winning film-maker while they’re at it.”

AIE offers many courses for budding animators, from introductory part-time and online courses through to full-time Certificate IV and Advanced Diplomas.  Full details available here.
