Huge Crowd at AIE Canberra’s Open Night
AIE Canberra’s latest open night was a huge success which packed out the large AIE atrium last Wednesday evening. People traveled from as far as Grafton, Bermagui, Orange, Sydney and Bateman’s Bay to attend the night and hear presentations from AIE Teachers and Graduates now working in the Games & 3D Industries.
Current games in development by Advanced Diploma of Professional Game Development were on display and available for testing, along with digital compositing, green screen filming and animated short film developed by Diploma of Screen students. Current students were also on hand to talk to parents and prospective students about the courses, the work they are creating and the experiences they’ve had at AIE so far.
Dayne Rathbone (Gameplay Programmer - Micro Forté), John Travers (Environment Artist – 2K Australia) and Mark Doughton (3D Modeller – Computer Modelling Group, Navy Systems Command) were on hand to talk about their experiences since graduating from AIE. Dayne is currently working on Micro Forté’s upcoming title, Kwari and John has recently completed work on 2K’s blockbuster Bioshock. Mark is currently working on a number of projects for the Navy Systems Command but unfortunately couldn’t disclose too much information!
“It’s extremely encouraging to see such strong interest in careers in the games, film and animation industries. It’s also great to see so many students and parents from regional areas attending the night. We really appreciate Dayne, John and Mark giving up their time to come back to AIE and talk to current and prospective students”, said AIE Canberra Head of School, Mr Neil Boyd.
If you were unable to make it to the Open Night, don’t forget you can drop in to AIE at any time, Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm! Keep an eye on our website, www.aie.edu.au, for details on upcoming events at AIE Canberra and Melbourne Campuses.
