Maya ~ Fast 'n' Furious!
10 Aug 2007
AIE is pleased to offer a unique experience to build foundation skills in using with Autodesk Maya, the 3D modelling and animation package predominantly used in creating visual effects for movies.
Over 5 days in October, this short course is designed to give 3ds max users an introduction to this very versatile program. You will be doing exercises in polygon and subdivision surface modelling, UV mapping, lighting, rigging and animation, ultimately finishing off with rendering and compositing.
The first day will involve doing tutorials that will provide you with basic skills in all these areas. During days 2-5 you will be working on your own project which will involve modelling and animating an IK driven character - comparable to the IK assignment you might be familiar with if you completed the Cert IV in 3D animation for Games and Film at the AIE.
At the end of the short course you will be familiar with workspace/viewport navigation in Maya and you will have developed an appreciation for components unique to Maya, such as the Dependency Graph and the Hypershade.
Ideally this course is suited to industry professionals or graduates/current students in the Certificate IV in 3D Animation for Games and Film or similar course.
Course Costs: $495.00 ($350 for full time students or $250 for AIE full time students)
Dates: October 8th to 12th, 9:30am to 4:30pm
Location: AIE Canberra Campus
Contact: Places in this course are limited to just 10 students, so contact Myles Peterson, Student Liaison on 02 6162 5131 or
to reserve your place.
