14 May 2007
AIE Canberra is currently accepting mid-year applications for the Certificate IV in 3D Animation for Games and Film and, for the first time, the Certificate IV in Information Technology (Games Programming). Both courses will run intensively, 40hrs per week, from July to November, allowing students to intensively complete their Certificate IV studies at the same time as the Certificate IV students who began their course in January.
The Certificate IV in Information Technology (Games Programming) is the first step towards a career as a programmer for the computer games industry and leads on into the Advanced Diploma of Professional Computer Game Development (Software Development Major). The Certificate IV course focuses on introducing students to C++ programming for games, games math and introduces students to 3D games programming. Guided by industry experienced teachers, students work through a series of tutorials, exercises, assignments and industry guest lectures to cover subjects such as C++ fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, binary arithmetic, vectors, trigonometry, logical and bitwise operations, managing C++ structures, class design, memory management, OO design, pointers, preprocessor basics and version control using professional industry level software.
The Certificate IV in 3D Animation for Games and Film also acts as the first stage of the Advanced Diploma of Professional Game Development (Games Art Major) and Diploma of Screen. As a foundation course, students are introduced to 3D Studio Max and the skills required to produce industry-standard 3D modelling and basic animations. During the course students work through the elements of digital art essential to the games, film, television, design and other 3D industries including modelling, environment design, texturing, lighting, particle systems and FX and character animation.
