AIE Canberra is pleased to offer this limited opportunity to complete the Advanced Diploma of Screen using acclaimed Maya software!
Autodesk Maya is one of the world’s most sophisticated animation packagesand has been credited on many of theworld’s blockbuster films. Titles such as Ice Age II, The Da Vinci Code, War of the Worlds and The Chronicles of Narnia wouldn’t have been possible without the use of Maya software. In Australia, major film companies such as Animal Logic and The Lab use Maya as their animation tool on projects such as Happy Feet, David Tench Tonight, Dirty Deeds, various TV commercials and short film projects.
Increasingly, Maya is also being used in game development, with Australian studios such as Team Bondi and Krome studios using Maya as their primary tool for content production pipeline. Maya has been credited with work on recent blockbuster titles such as F.E.A.R, Halo 2, Madden NFL and Final Fantasy XI to name but a few. Many of the next-generation titles currently in development for Sony Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii are also being developed using Maya software.
This course assumes no previous experience using MAYA software and starts with the entry level basics; quickly developing to encompass all aspects of Maya’s sophisticated tools. Topics such as NURBS modelling, polygons and subdivisions, character rigging, animation, dynamics (fur, cloth and liquid), lighting, texturing, rendering and compositing are all covered in detail.
Applicants for this course need no previous experience using Maya, though some previous 3D skills are required. Students will need to have completed the Certificate IV in 3D Animation for Games and Film / Certificate IV in Screen or be able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge using 3D software.
