One day Industry Experience Program for teachers
Melbourne 3 October 2007
Find out what it takes to work in professional game development and 3D animation
Conducted by veteran game developers, this one day program gives teachers the chance to find out first-hand what it takes to work in a professional game development studio and provides hands-on experience in how to develop digital content used in games.
The game development industry continues to be one of the world’s fastest growing industries. Over the next five years, demand from Melbourne studios for skilled game developers and 3D animators is expected to double. At the same time, more teachers are now using commercial computer games in their classrooms (see Can games be more than fun? in the May 2007 issue of Education Review www.educationreview.com.au).
Guided by industry veterans from the Academy of Interactive Entertainment (AIE), teachers will create a 3D animation plus a digital object (environment asset) for a game level using the same software that industry uses.
Areas for discussion will cover:
- professional game design
- game development and animation processes
- the size and nature of the games and 3D animation industry
- career options and pathways
Teachers will also take away a copy of the 3D animation and game environment asset they create, together with tutorial guides for developing a complete set of game assets.
