Scholarships
Each year a number of scholarships are on offer to both first year and second year students. Please contact your nearest campus in , or for more information on the scholarships available.
The Sony Foundation Australia Interactive Technology Scholarship
Since 2001 AIE and Sony Foundation Australia have offered the Interactive Technology Scholarship to first year art students entering second year game art studies.
The Interactive Technology Scholarship assists talented art students to further their studies by providing three students $4000 each of subsidised course fees. First year art students continuing to the second year of study (Art) are invited to apply in August/September. Finalists then go through a selection process involving interviews with professional game developers.
Some past winners of the Sony Foundation Australia Interactive Technology Scholarship who have gone on to forge successful careers in the games industry include:
- Alex Tuckett (Melbourne 2008) - Technical Artist at Tantalus Media
- Chris Michaelides (Melbourne 2007) - Operations Manager for Zero One Animation
- Simon Cottee (Canberra 2007) – Game Reviewer for Australian Gamer
- Jessica Brett (Canberra 2006) – Character Artist at Red Tribe
- Georgia Patton (Melbourne 2006) – Having worked at Big Ant Studios and Tantalus Media, Georgia is now working as a freelance 3D Artist.
- Chris Chaproniere (Canberra 2003) – Character Artist at 2K Australia
- Damon Raynor (Canberra 2000) – Damon went on to work at Soho Studios in London amongst other companies in both the UK and US before returning to Australia to take up a Lead Artist role for Krome.

AIE Women in Games Scholarship
This $4000 scholarship is offered by each campus to assist an outstanding female AIE student to pursue their career in game programming or animation. Scholarship applications are open to current year one students in October 2010 and are awarded in December 2010 to assist with year two study in 2011.
BigWorld Games Programming Scholarship
The $4000 BigWorld Games Programming Scholarship has been on offer since 2007 for the Best Games Programming Student across all three AIE Campuses. It is open to students currently enrolled in Year Two of the Advanced Diploma of Professional Game Development - Specialising in Software Development. In 2010, the Application process will commence in May and be awarded in July 2010.
