Sydney Holiday Courses

  • Holiday courses run from 9.30am until 4.30pm.
  • All participants will receive a certificate of completion.
  • Students are encouraged to bring a USB stick to save their work.
  • We ask that students provide their own lunch, morning and afternoon tea where possible as there is NO canteen close by for students to purchase food and lunch is not provided.

Holiday Course Descriptions

Introduction to 3D Animation

Introduction to 3D Animation is designed as an introductory course for people interested in learning basic skills in 3D art. Students will be introduced to the uses and architecture of 3D software and will gain an understanding of skills and techniques necessary to create and render 3D objects through the creation of a 3D environment. Areas of study include: introduction to 3D modelling, basic modelling, texturing, lighting and character animation.

Introduction to Game Programming

Introduction to Game Programming teaches students how to program using Javascript and is designed to introduce students to the many career opportunities available for programmers in games and in interactive and creative industries. Modules of study introduce students to the fundamentals of games design and development. This course allows students to gain an understanding of game programming and gives participants a further understanding of skills and techniques necessary to create fun, innovative games.

Minecraft Mayhem

Create your own sculptures and turn them into minecraft blocks! Using sculptris, the students will learn how to make their own 3D models. After the models are made, the students are then taught how to import them into Minecraft! You can make anything you want and watch it appear as whatever colour blocks you like!

Game Development in Unreal 4

Discover the exciting world of Unreal Engine 4! Create your very own prototype 3D Platformer complete with Moving Platforms, Pick-ups, and Multiple Levels using pre-made assets as well as those you’ll make yourself. Once completed, challenge your friends to see if they can complete your level!

Alien Planet

Create an alien world in 3D straight out of your imagination. Design the landscape, weird and wonderful plant life that have evolved in this strange new world. Build the creatures that live here - are they robots, little green people or multi-eyed blobs? Participants will produce their own world and learn about 3D modelling, texturing and lighting. Bring a USB drive and take home your copy of your finished work!
Ages: 11-14 years

Minecraft Movie Maker

Learn how to storyboard, capture, and edit your own Minecraft videos in the style of your favourite YouTubers. You will learn the fundamentals associated with the planning of a story or tutorial which you will capture from Minecraft and then edit to make the final movie.

Thursday 6th and Friday 7th Jul (2 days) $260

Gotta Make 'em All

Make your own pocket monster! This course teaches you how to digitally model, texture, sculpt and paint your own pocket monster. You will even learn how to create a ball to store and carry your monster in. Animate, light and render your creation and learn to bring your pocket monster to life! See what goes on behind the scenes of Animation.

Designing Game Levels

Create a compelling and interctive game environment using 3D software and a game engine. Students will learn how to use both pre-built assessts and their own assets to create a game level in either the Unity Game Engine or the Unreal 4 Game Engine. Students will learn effective workflows, how to manage assets as well as how to conduct testing of their level.
Ages: 12+ years+
