Canberra Holiday Courses

April 2018

  • Holiday courses run from 9am until 4pm.
  • The campus is open from 8.45am.
  • All participants will receive a certificate of completion.
  • Students are encouraged to bring a USB stick to save their work.

  • AIE in Canberra is located at Block E, Canberra Technology Park, 49 Phillip Avenue, Watson, ACT 2602.

  • Supervision is available after the designated finish time but all students need to be collected by 5pm as the campus closes promptly at that time.

Holiday Course Descriptions

2D Character Design and Animation

2D Character Design and Animation will teach students the basics of character design, development and animation. Students will create customised characters using illustration techniques and photo editing software which they will animate and import into a prebuilt computer game that they can take home to show their friends and family. Make sure you bring a USB.

Game Development in Unreal

Discover the exciting world of Unreal Engine 4! With the use of Visual Scripting and Material Creation you will create your very own Prototype 3D Platformer complete with Moving Platforms, Pick-ups, and Multiple Levels using pre-made assets as well as those you will make yourself.

Game Design in Unity

During this fun and engaging 3 day course you will be taken through the process of designing a basic game from the ground up and shown how to use the tools built into the Unity game engine to enable you to create games of your own design after the course is completed. Being able to make a stand alone version of your game which will run on a windows PC or Mac will be achieved, so please remember to bring in a USB

Introduction to Game Programming

Introduction to Game Programming teaches students how to develop code applicable to development for the Unity game engine. Game design and development fundamentals are applied but the main focus is about the programming language and how it is applied in developing a game. At the end of the course you will have some great basic skills to get you started in creating your own games.
