October School Holidays 2008 @ AIE
AIE is pleased to offer a range of courses over the October 2008 school holiday period. All students who participate in a short course will receive a certificate of completion along with a copy of the work produced in class on CD-ROM/DVD.
Students will need to provide their own lunch, morning and afternoon tea. For the convenience of our students there is a canteen located onsite.

7 – 9 Years Courses
1. Monster Mash
Ever wanted to design your own cool scary monster? From large hairy, fire breathing beasts to little 3 eyed slimy green martians, the choices are endless! Students will learn skills in 3D modeling, texturing, and animation to create their own little monster. This two-day course is suitable for all students from complete beginners to those with experience in 3D animation.

2. Robot Zoo
Design and build a 3D animated robot animal and an enclosure to help stock the Robot Zoo! Everyone will work together to create a short movie showcasing all the student’s creations as a part of the Zoo’s grand opening. This two-day course is suitable for all students from complete beginners to those with experience in 3D animation.

10 to 14 Years Courses
1. Game Design and Analysis
Learn about what it takes to design your own game just like an industry professional. Students will create their own game design document and powerpoint pitch. Students will analyse a number of games from a range of genres (within suitable game classification ratings) to get a better understanding of key game features and the design process to help define their unique idea and presentation.

2. Mythical Creatures
This is your chance to design and build your very own mythical creature. It could be a Hippogriff, Unicorn or something from your own imagination! Students will learn about 3D modeling, texturing, animation and combine their work to create a DVD movie showcasing their creature.

3. Trackmania: Game Vehicle & Level Design
Use cutting-edge game engine technology to create a race track of your own design and build your own race car. Students will be able to leave with their own level and car to play as well as a DVD with captured in-game footage to show to family and friends. This two-day course is suitable for all students from complete beginners to those with experience in 3D animation.

4. Digital Cartoon Characters
Want to learn how to re-create your favourite TV, film or games character, or simply make up your own? Students will learn 3D modeling, texturing and animation to breathe life into their very own character. This two-day course is suitable for all students from complete beginners to those with experience in 3D animation.

5. 2D Game Arcade using Gamemaker
Ever wanted to know what it takes to make a game? This is your chance to design and build your very own 2D game. Students will integrate their own 2D game art, code, sound effects and user interface. Everyone who participates will make their own game to take home.

12 Years + Courses
1. Robot Interaction & Animation
This course gives students a hands-on learning experience with real-life robots! Students will be able to access a variety of different robots to work on movement, mechanics, using sensors, and developing introductory artificial intelligence.

15 to 18 Years Courses
1. Special FX for Film
Learn how to make the special effects you see in the movies including 3D and composited post-production techniques. Students will create and integrate a series of special effects into video format to take home on DVD. This course is suitable for all students from complete beginners to those with more experience in 3D Animation.

2. Character Animation
This course launches students into the world of character animation used in games and film. Learn how to bring characters to life by creating realistic and cartoony movement. Students will create a number of animations for a number of different 3D characters and render these to a video DVD. This two day course is suited to students with some prior experience with 3D animation.
