  • Prior Mudbox experience necessary or completion of Foundation Workshop on previous day

AIE and Dave King are offering a one-day 'beyond the basics' workshop covering advanced sculpting techniques and workflows using Mudbox through a series of practical exercises. Dave King’s work includes creatures and characters for a staggering range of game, film and commercial projects.

It is strongly recommended that students bring a drawing Tablet to the workshops

Deeper understanding of theory

  • Understanding sculpt data
  • Advanced use of UV space

Bulletproofing your workflow

  • Mastering exporting
  • Fixing errors, rescuing sculpts
  • Reprojecting data between models
  • Reprojecting data between parts

Advanced techniques

  • Building facial morph sets with corrective displacements and bumps
  • Building sculpt stencils
  • Working with dense, multi-part, multi-texture models

Prerequisites: Participants should be able to:

  • Navigating the viewport
  • Importing models into scene
  • Subdividing mesh
  • Basic use of most sculpting tools
  • Using the layers interface
  • Transforming models
  • Experience making a couple of mudbox models
