Neil Boyd, Head of School

Neil has a distinguished career in education with AIE and in the NSW public education sector. A graduate of Sydney University (Ba of Education), Neil joined AIE in 2001 teaching Diploma of Computer Game Development (Art). Neil has also helped develop curriculum for the Certificate IV in 3D Animation and was instramental in developing the Certifiacte III in Screen (online). Neil has also worked as a freelance graphic artist and website developer, as well as founding Kraken Studios, AIE's first incubator company.

Neil is also involved in the wider games and CGI industries through various boards, such as the Game Developers Association of Australia and is an active participant in state and federal government digital industry initatives.

Sebastian Perri, Senior Teacher - Art

During seven years with AIE, Sebastian has been instrumental in course development, particularly with our newest online course, Game Character Creation. Seb also has a keen interest in the facilitating student based projects, and liasing with clients that are interested in working with graduates of AIE. Sebastian is also now involved in the online learning experience of AIE's online students through their assessment and video tutorial creation for the Certificate III in Screen (online).

In addition to his online work, Seb also teaches and develops curriculum for the Certificate IV in 3D Animation for Games and Film and the Advanced Diploma of Screen.

Seb has completed various courses, including a Bachelor of Visual Arts, Certificate IV in Applied Arts (3D Electronic Animation) and Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment.

Thomas Magill, Teacher - Art

Thomas, has been teaching at AIE since 2001. Thomas teaches 3D modelling and animation software in both MAYA and 3D Studio MAX and digital compositing. Thomas is also responsible for developing training for higher education and scientific entities.

Dan Miller, Teacher - Art

Dan has been teaching at AIE since completing the very first Diploma of Computer Game Development course! Currently he teaches the Advanced Diploma of Screen and Diploma of Computer Game Development.  He has since been instrumental in the establishment of the first of AIE’s Incubator Projects.  Currently Dan is guiding a group of graduates to complete their first few commercial jobs and become a small business.

Dan's major goal for 2007 was to achieve the top 16 of Australia's largest film festival, Sony Tropfest, which he achieved with the Story of Ned. Written and Directed by Simon Weaving, with Art Direction and Animation by Dan Miller and a team of AIE graduates, the Story of Ned is a richly animated film that follows the intriguing story of Ned, a story without an end! Allan Geddes, Teacher - Art

Allan has a lifelong passion in design and 3D and once he made the decision to become a professional artist he never looked back. After 2 years as a student at AIE Allan scored shiny awards and walked straight into a job with the Australian Defence Force before he had graduated! Allan enjoyed his time with Defence creating visualisations and returned to AIE to teach the part time Certificate II in Basic 3D Electronic Animation. Allan now works full time at AIE, still teaching the Cert II along with the full time Certificate IV in 3D Animation for Games and Film.

Allan has completed the Certificate IV in 3D Aniamtion for Games and Film and Diploma of Screen at AIE, as well as receiving the prestigous Sony Foundation Australia Interactive Entertainment Scholarship.

Lea Bartlett, Senior Teacher - Programming

In a previous life Lea has worked as a Dental Nurse and a Medical Research Assistant. Her total change of career came from a desire to be in an industry that was challenging and always changing. After completing other programming courses her interest in games and programming grew and drew her to the AIE to specialize in games programming. After finishing study at the AIE she gained industry experience with Micro Forté before returning to teach at the AIE. She currently combines her teaching duties with programming work for Splattt Studios and Freelance application development. Lea loves Rats, Games, Hats and Exploring the latest Technology in no particular order!

Lea has completed a Diploma of Information Technology (Software Development), Diploma of Computer Game Development (Programming), Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Asessment and is currently studying a Bachelor of Science (Computer Science).

Neil McDonald, Teacher - Art

Neil (of doom) McDonald grew up playing video games as a passion more than a hobby and after seeing the AIE TV commercial he said to himself ‘I have to go there and learn to actually make games’. The next year Neil enrolled himself in the Cert IV and has never looked back.

While studying his diploma Neil found himself teaching & assisting in the Certificate II in Basic 3D Electronic Animation & Certificate IV in 3D Animation for Games and Film part time. In addition to his teaching at AIE, Neil also does freelance work for a variety of local companies. .

In his spare time Neil likes to make plans to take over the world with his minions of doom, plays a variety of computer games, mostly RPG's!, and enjoys quality time with his Nintendo Wii!!!   

Noelene Dencio, Administration Manager

Noelene has been responsible for AIE's administrative systems since 1998 and has managed key audit and quality assurance processes since 2000. Noelene further manages the administrative processes of AIE's training partnerships and, in that role, has mentored other training organisations in AQTF compliance.     

Noelene was a key organizer of the first  Australian Games developers Conference and continues to oversee AIE education events in Canberra. As pastoral care officer, Noelene is often the main point of reference and help for students and is always one of the first people asked for in alumni gatherings and visits by graduates.

Noelene is also International Student Admissions Manager and handles all enrollment processes for both Canberra and Melbourne campuses.   

Myles Peterson, Student Liaison Officer

Myles is AIE’s Student Liaison and Administration Officer, responsible for answering all public enquiries, student queries and many other administration tasks. In most cases, Myles is first point of call for prospective and current students.

Myles studied law and politics at the ANU, worked in Federal Parliament and for several Law firms before deciding he would much prefer a career playing and developing games. He aspires to one day be a published author and likes to write in many genres and styles.

Ronnie Chow, Web & Design Manager

Ronnie has over 10 years experience in graphic design and 7 years experience in website design and development. She is also fluent in English and Cantonese.

Prior to joining AIE, Ronnie worked in advertising agencies and exhibition companies. She has designed websites and print materials for many government departments and international companies. In her current role she is responsible for graphic design of all print advertising, promotional materials and the creation and management of various websites.

Ronnie holds Graduate Diplomas in Design Studies as well as Professional Communications (major in Multimedia).
