Once in a Lifetime Event for AIE Alumni

Next week the top alumni from the Academy of Interactive Entertainment (AIE) will be packing their bags and getting ready to fly to Tuscany, Italy, for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

“It’s a very exciting event and it will be great to catch up with classmates and make some new contacts” said Ben Davis, Lead Character Artist at Splash Damage, London.

The event is more than an opportunity for alumni to reconnect, network and celebrate their accomplishments. It’s an opportunity for these industry veterans to help AIE envisage how to support the games and film industries for the next 20 years. AIE alumni can be found in studios around the world including Weta Digital, Bioware and Rockstar.

"I'm really looking forward to seeing what everyone’s been doing” said Kevin Blom, who has worked in visual effects around the world for companies including Dreamworks Animation.

"I've been developing some pretty interesting ideas, and I hope to use this event to get them off the ground. It would be great to see what AIE has planned and be part of it” Kevin said.

The event aims to cement stronger relationships between alumni and encourage ongoing involvement in the education curriculum from alumni who now hold influential roles in the games and VFX industries.

“This is both a celebration of the alumni that have blazed the trails into the industry and also a rare opportunity to re-connect and gain their valuable insights” said John De Margheriti, AIE CEO

The Alumni event will run over three days and has been made possible due to generous support by Wargaming, the award-winning videogame developer behind World of Tanks.

“Wargaming and BigWorld have a long association with AIE” said Stephen Wang, CEO of BigWorld, “We’re proud to be able to make this event possible.”
