AIE has just launched two entirely new online short courses.  Game Design Foundations and Game Development Foundations will introduce students to game development using the powerful Unity 3D engine from 2 different perspectives – Design and Programming.

Location is no longer a barrier for learning game development. The new courses are taught online, using Adobe Connect, allowing you see and interact in real time with your lecturer and class mates easily through a web browser. Each session will be recorded, allowing you to never miss a class discussion, and students can interact in class sessions from a variety of mobile platforms.

“Being able to interact with online students in real time will speed up the learning process and allow more time for the students to develop their skills further than online classes run without a virtual classroom.” Lea Michael, AIE Virtual Head of School

The new online courses will teach students how to develop a game from initial concept to playable demo using the Unity 3D game engine, art and scripts. Students learn things like:

  • Game mechanics and how to implement them
  • Rapid prototyping
  • Game design documentation
  • C# skills
  • Pathways to further  learning

Students who successfully complete the course will receive either a Certificate III in Information, Digital Media and Technology (Game Development Foundations) or a Certificate III in Media (Game Design Foundations).

If you are keen to find out more about the new online courses join us in our first ever online campus open day January 16th 2013. To register for the online open day email online@aie.edu.au or contact 02 6162 5139.
