Bachelor degree available in AIE Melbourne
15-Dec-2011Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) and Academy of Interactive Entertainment (AIE) are excited to bring the Bachelor of Games and Virtual Worlds (Programming) to Melbourne in 2012.
Many students who start the Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) and Academy of Interactive Entertainment (AIE) Bachelor of Games and Virtual Worlds (Programming) are attracted by the idea they will be soon making computer games for a living. They discover there is a broader range of careers available in serious games with the same skills.
The ‘serious games’ industry, which includes simulations, interactive applications and training programs, is where a lot of Australia's demand for programmers come from.
Most companies that require programmers either have their own programming division or are in the process of creating one, meaning graduates can look for work directly with them.
Right now the students from this degree, which is the first of its kind in Australia, are working in small, multidisciplinary teams to build games, simulations and tools for development. There are several focus areas including: project management, software engineering, game play programming, game engine programming.
CIT and AIE thrive on the challenge of responding to demand in a changing industry without compromising at all on skills. At this time, several companies are picking our students for internships before they have completed their second year of study. The third year of the degree is designed to be delivered online, so students can be employed and part time, by the end of the second year.
