About AIE

Course Introductions

AIE offers vocational training in Computer Game Development (Animation and Programming) and 3D animation for Screen, supporting the Australian digital creative industries, which continue to grow faster than any other entertainment or content sector. All AIE’s certificate and diploma programs are nationally accredited and recognised through the Australian Qualifications Framework.

The design and production skills of interactive arts now underpin production activity in a large number of industries, not only in games, film and entertainment but are now recognised as increasingly valuable skills in various other industries including but not exclusive to the following:

  • Engineering, Architecture and Urban planning
  • Defence simulation and educational resource creation
  • Biotechnology and scientific illustration across all disciplines.

Full time training at AIE commences in February each year, continuing until November each year. Intensive mid year intakes start in July and continue until November each year. Typically students starting in February study for two and a half days per week allowing time to work or undertake other study. Mid year intensive intakes usually run 5 days per week over one semester.

Various payment options are in place for each course, and for AIE courses, payment plans can be developed to suit individual requirements. Please contact Melbourne, Sydney or Canberra for more information. Students enrolled in full time courses may also like to investigate loan options available through most financial institutions. More information on student loan options can be found on the student loans page.

Students enrolled in full time study are eligible for Centrelink benefits such as AUSTUDY & Youth Allowance. Please note normal Centrelink conditions apply. Visit www.centrelink.gov.au for more information.

Entry to the 3D art stream of study is by portfolio and interview while programming students sit a test in C++ before interview. Please see How to Apply for more details.
